All around the world, designers and architects are using the BAUX acoustic tiles and panels in exiting projects for exiting brands. In a series of newsletters we aim to introduce you to a selection of projects and the mindmasters behind designs of these acoustic artworks. We simply will call these newsletters Interviews #.
Meeting up with Tatjana Fairhurst, Interior Designer at I-AM in London, we talked about the turquoise BAUX Panels wall at the Hansgrohe water studio in London!
How did you approach the Water Studio Space?
When we won the pitch, we knew we wanted to create a space that allowed Hansgrohe’s products to come to the forefront. The BAUX designs were a part of that strategy.
Where did the idea for the BAUX designs come from?
The client had a vision to create a space that celebrated water. Within that space they wanted a sanctuary for meetings and conversations. We wanted to create a simple, honest space, with subtle colours and decoration. The natural properties of BAUX fitted perfectly with our vision and the client’s commitment to sustainable solutions.
How did the BAUX design transform the space?
The colours and shapes created a graphic interpretation of the feeling of water. And the sound insulation was impressive. The client was worried noise would seep in and out through the glass doors. They were impressed at how quiet and calm it felt to sit in there.
The meeting room is calm, geared around conversation and the texture of the design contrasts the chrome, glass, angular space outside.
How have people reacted?
It works really well. We’ve heard comments that people say they say they feel protected in there. It’s quiet and the colours are soft and reflective.
What would a dream BAUX project look like?
It would be great to use BAUX in an educational space. The potential for linear graphic expression is endless. Office environments and showrooms would also work well. You can use the colours to reflect brand identities.
