Herkommer+Gutbrod creates interior designs for business and living spaces. Interior designer Julian Steck has crafted a biophilic meeting room distinct from the firm’s conventional office space. Grüner Salon (The Green Salon) is a sanctuary for colleagues to collaborate and meet with clients - a space that immerses workers in the soothing essence of nature.
The design concept was inspired by the principles of biophilic design which uses natural design elements to enhance wellbeing and productivity and create a respite from stressful urbanized environments. The goal was to create a space where people feel calm, inspired and creative.
Avoiding linear patterns commonly found in office designs, Grüner Salon utilises a variety of BAUX products to create a tapestry of texture and hues. Julian has taken a modular approach creating abstract patternings that spread from the floor to ceiling, which rises along the length of the room, enhancing the sense of an expansive landscape.

As workers and clients step into the Grüner Salon, they’re immersed in the tranquillity of a forest glade or mountain vista. The earthy warmth of wood and the vibrant hues of foliage have been carefully combined to capture the diversity found in nature. Furnishings have been curated to complement the biophilic design ethos, with an emphasis on recycled or sustainably sourced materials.

The unique composition of BAUX wood wool materials creates structures that absorb sound waves, creating a calm, peaceful atmosphere – perfect for focused discussions and brainstorming.
