OsloMet has commissioned Zinc to renovate their student workspace, SG26, in central Oslo. Zinc has designed the interior solution – a study space situated on the first floor, featuring modern workspaces for students to study alone or in groups.
SG26 is an open-plan space, nesting smaller booths and workstations. It’s a diverse workspace that’s been designed to respond to students’ individual needs. Tables, sofas, booths and electrical outlets are always close to hand. Large windows wash the first floor with refreshing natural daylight and the muted colours of BAUX designs synergise the space to create an interior that feels professional and inspiring. SG26 is welcoming and lively, and it offers a variety of flexible working solutions for OsloMet’s students.
BAUX is more than just good acoustics.
Creating a workspace in an open plan interior has acoustical challenges. SG26 is a bustling meeting space, situated near a dining area, so it was essential to reduce sound reflections in the human voice range. Zinc have used BAUX designs to clad the walls in the main space and in the smaller work booths where BAUX designs can effectively dampen sound reflections from windows, walls and hard surfaces. The sinuous fibres of the woodwool tiles interlace with the buildings exposed brickwork to create intricate patterns and textures within the space.
Sustainability was a necessary part of the design process.
As a workspace for a future generation of learners, Zinc have consciously chosen to create an interior that uses sustainable materials. As well as being source from sustainably managed spruce forests in Sweden, the woodwool fibres in BAUX products regulate humidity and retain heat which helps to reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
The beauty of BAUX is it fits in almost anywhere.
The colours of the BAUX designs reflect the graphic identity of the client and the existing palette in the building. The design team at Zinc used the pattern tool on the BAUX website to choose patterns that fit each space. The BAUX pattern tool has hundreds of pattern suggestions for each BAUX product.
